Harrow International School New York is one of the 2025 Schools to Watch by Carfax Education

Carfax Education has recently released the 2025 edition of the Schools to Watch list, part of The Schools Index.

The Middle East is rapidly becoming a genuine hub of educational innovation. This trend is clearly reflected in our newly released 2025 selection.

This Schools to Watch list is published alongside our primary Schools Index of the world’s top 150 private schools. Where the main Index features the established giants of the industry, the Schools to Watch list is designed to capture momentum. It identifies the institutions that are moving the fastest- whether they are historic colleges enjoying a renaissance or new entrants disrupting the market.

The Region's Rising Stars

We are delighted to see schools from the Middle East feature so heavily in the 2025 selection, sitting comfortably alongside historic British boarding schools and elite US academies.

We have highlighted several key institutions from the region in this year's 'Ones to Watch' and 'New Schools' categories. Dubai English Speaking School and GEMS Dubai American Academy have been recognised for their continued innovation and ability to adapt in a competitive market. Further afield in the region, King's School The Crown in Cairo is setting new standards in Egypt, while Charterhouse Lagos represents a significant development for private education in West Africa.

For parents based in the UAE, this list offers a dual perspective: it highlights the diversity of local schooling options whilst outlining, for those considering international transitions, the exciting opportunities abroad - from St. Catherine's British School in Athens, or Hilton College in South Africa, to the just-opened Harrow International School in New York.

It’s great to see the region’s momentum finally getting its due, especially how the list highlights historic colleges that are actively reinventing themselves rather than resting on reputation. I’ve been tracking these exact trends for a while now, and this pairs perfectly with the data I’ve been pulling from https://gputomine.com
